北海道にて、十数名のグループ展に参加する事となった。
私は、今回の十数名の出品者が各々の地より大切に包んで郵送してきたであろう作品の梱包材をすべて集めた。そして、全ての出品者の梱包材を使用して、1つの「見えないが確かに存在しているモノ」を梱包した。
普通、展覧会場に送られた作品は梱包を解かれて展示される。当たり前ではあるが、梱包材の方は人目のつかない所にしまわれてしまう。およそ、梱包というのは作品のみを包んでいると思いがちである。しかし、そうではない。私は、梱包とは作品と共に“環境”“精神”“記憶”をも取り込んでいるのだと考える。実は、梱包された中の空間にこそ作家の精神が宿っているのだ。
会期が終わると、この作品は各々の作家によって引き剥がされ、再び作品を保護する梱包材として使用され、各々の場所に送られていった。

I participated in a group show of about 10 artists in Hokkaido.
I collected all the packing material of the other artists, which was probably used to send their work with care from various areas. I exhibited there a package of “something unseen but surely existed” by using the packing material of all the other artists.
It is usual to exhibit a work by being unpacked, and put the packing material away to somewhere unnoticed. Although people tend to think a package is just a packing stuff of a work, I think a package contains even “surroundings”, “mind” and “memory”, as well as the work itself. In fact, I think that the spirit of the artist lives in the package.
After the exhibition ended, my work was separated to pieces by the other artists to pack their work again and sent to their hometowns.
